what it does for you
a connection on the openai wire is translated between anthropic’s messages api and chat completions, streaming and tool calls included. codex and grok build use it directly.
what it needs
- an openai (or compatible) api key, kept on your machine; chatgpt plans are not supported

settings → providers → add, with the openai wire.
how far it has been tested
the translation is exercised against real claude code and a stub gateway, never against api.openai.com.
